Kathleen Ecker, NP

Nurse Practitioner

Kathleen Donlon Ecker MSN, graduated from Villanova University School of Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania Family Nurse Practitioner Program. With over four decades of nursing experience, Kathleen has cultivated expertise across various fields including Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry, and Sexual Assault Forensics.

For 25 years, Kathleen has served as a Certified pediatric, adolescent and adult Massachusetts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). She pioneered the role of Pediatric SANE at Children’s Cove, the Cape and Islands Child Advocacy Center and is the Regional Coordinator of the Cape and Islands Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program, a component of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Division of Violence and Injury Prevention.

In addition to her frontline work, Kathleen has actively contributed to various task forces, including the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Massachusetts DPH Pediatric Advisory Board, Massachusetts Governors Subcommittee on Pediatric and Adolescent Violence, Cape and Islands Maternal Depression Task Force and the Cape and Islands Committee on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and an elected member of the Orleans school committee. She is also a volunteer for the Boston Marathon Finish Line Medical Team since 2013.

She is committed to education and training, conducting frequent presentations for Massachusetts SANE Nurses, Emergency Room staff, Massachusetts Police Training Council, District Attorney’s Offices, EMS, and Rape Crisis Centers. She has also presented at Regional and National conferences on topics of sexual assault and trauma.
