Description:
This webinar, from October 15, 2008, features Alison Beckman of the Center for Victims of Torture. It is part of the National Capacity Building (NCB) webinar series. NCB is a project of the Center for Victims of Torture.
CVT has been providing psychoeducation groups for torture survivors for many years and formalized its group manual and made it available on CVT’s website in 2008. The main goal of this webinar is to familiarize participants with CVT’s psychoeducational group model and our manual by providing other programs access to this manual for use and adaptation within their programs. This webinar provides an overview of the psychoeducational group model that is used at CVT as well as an overview of the facilitators’ manual. Ms. Beckman discusses session topics that are presented during the group. Group screening issues, working with interpreters in group, other group dynamics to keep in mind, and benefits of this treatment modality are also presented.
