This webinar, from April 16th, 2014, features Marianne Philbin of Pierce Family Foundation.
This webinar is part of the National Capacity Building (NCB) webinar series. NCB is a project of the Center for Victims of Torture.
Description:
A framework for guiding your board towards the ‘right’ work and supporting them in more effective ways, this webinar offers some practical tools to strengthen boards so that they can focus on governance and oversight, become better equipped to understand and set policy, and be responsible for overall organizational health. Please note also, that for agencies that do not have a board of directors, these ideas can also be applied to oversight or steering committees or advisory boards.
Objectives:
Participants will come away with:
- Practical techniques to maximize board effectiveness, while also improving the board experience for board members
- Ways to insure that boards focus on the right things, (rather than those that might feel easier or more appealing… !)
- A sample board agenda illustrating a new way of organizing time spent at board meetings
- Right from the beginning… a sample board orientation agenda
