Suggested discussion questions:
- How greatly do issues of working among and between cultures impact your work (personally and at the programmatic level)?
- Can you think of (and potentially share) a case in which cultural issues were particularly salient in terms of direct service provision?
- How have such issues impacted on your supervisory experiences?
- Can you think of (and potentially share) an instance where multicultural issues have been particularly salient (and/or problematic) in providing supervision?
- What teaching mechanisms have you found to be effective?
- Do you feel that there are significant barriers to exploring and enhancing cultural competency in the torture treatment field in general, and perhaps your program in particular?
- Do we have the right to try to change attitudes, even indirectly? Are sexism and racism and other forms or prejudice inherently wrong, or cultural values?
