Dr. Jennifer Esala is a medical sociologist with expertise in mental health interventions for trauma survivors, refugees and underserved populations. Dr. Esala’s research has been published in leading journals, such as Society and Mental Health, Traumatology, Journal of Traumatic Stress, Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, and American Journal of Evaluation. She has expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods and has served as principal investigator for multiple clinical trials. She is currently the principal investigator for a clinical trial of a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach to massage therapy to treat chronic pain in forced migrants in the United States.
