The Office of Refugee Resettlement Services for Survivors of Torture (SOT) grant program announces an NCB Community of Practice Initiative. A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of persons intentionally committed to learning new skills and sharing knowledge through dialogue and discussion. There are three parts to this continued initiative:
- Online SOT Peer Consultation Groups
- Virtual SOT Town Meetings
- A Community of Practice In-person Event
These Community of Practice groups are offered to ORR SOT grantees at this time. If you are eligible and interested in attending, please email Ann Lundberg, alundberg@CVT.org, for more information.
Peer Consultation Groups (PCGs)
NCB will continue hosting peer consultation groups (PCGs), which will again meet regularly in FY22. The PCGs use an interdisciplinary approach and include up to 12 participants and two facilitators in each group. In FY22 the PCG group topics are:
- Clinical Treatment
- Clinical Evaluation
- Telehealth for Clinicians
- Clinical Case Management
- Serving Asylum-seekers
- Community Education/Outreach
- Personal and Organizational Self-care
- Serving Detained Survivors
Virtual Town Meetings
NCB will continue hosting online meetings for ORR-SOT grantees in FY22. The meetings are scheduled to take place in two sessions to allow for fewer attendees and a higher level of participation in each session. These meetings are planned to take place about every 6 weeks in FY22. The meetings are voluntary and as time permits, though all SOT grantee programs are urged to participate. All staff from SOT programs are welcome to attend, but we ask that only one person from each program respond during the meeting. All attendees from your organization should attend the same meeting.
